Some children may go home with feeding tubes, oxygen and other supplies.

Home health care provides the supplies and skilled nursing visits to help you care for your child at home.

Please ask your care team about your child’s home health care needs before leaving the hospital.

Prior to your child going home, your cardiologist provides orders for any needed nursing visits and medical supplies. A home care representative or care manager will contact:

  • Your insurance company to arrange for coverage
  • You to arrange for nursing visits, delivery of equipment and supplies, and provide education for proper use if needed

Registered nurses perform assessments and work with your child’s doctors to create a customized home care plan. They serve as your doctor’s “eyes and ears” after you leave the hospital.

Some children may go home with feeding tubes, oxygen, or other supplies once they are ready to leave the hospital.
