Your child may need additional calories to help them heal after surgery. You may hear terms like “fortification of feeds” or “concentration of feeds.”

This just means you need to mix your child’s breast milk or formula differently in order to provide additional calories.

At Discharge

When ready for discharge, your child will get a nutrition plan designed just for them. You will learn and/or practice this plan before you leave the hospital. Once discharged, you may work with the outpatient dietitian to adjust your child’s nutrition plan so they continue to grow and heal properly
